Six October 2006 Canine Angel
I have a male Yorkshire terrier named Six. My husband named him Six because he likes the race car driver, Mark Martin, whose number is 6. Six’s life started off with challenges. He had to be delivered c-section, and was the only pup born to his mother, which is my other Yorkie. Then, at 3 months old, Six accidentally collided head-to-head with my son’s 12 year old Rottweiler. We rushed Six to Veterinary emergency care; when the doctor came out, he told us that Six suffered swelling of the brain. They had to place Six in an oxygen tent, and the Vet informed us that it could be very costly to render care, that Six could suffer permanent brain damage and may never walk again. We struggled with the decision to save Six or consider putting him to sleep. My husband and I talked about it and we requested to see Six again. When we visited with Six, he looked at us and I could see blood in his nose. My husband and I decided to continue to make him well. Six was in the hospital for 5 days and was blind for 2 of those days. After 5 days, Six showed improvement and we took him home. The doctor told us Six is a miracle puppy. After tender loving care, Six is now a healthy 1 year old dog. Six is a very active dog; he loves to steal toys away from other dogs, runs very fast, is a great jumper and can stand on his two hind legs for a long time. He loves chicken and t-bone snacks and we really love our little miracle dog, and all the joy he brings to us.
