Holly - September 2005 Canine Angel of the Month

Some think Holly derived her name from Hollywood. Not a bad thought, considering where we live and all. However, Holly was born a few days after Christmas, so I decided on a Holiday themed name, and Christmas holly came to mind. However, I’m sure she would be comfortable with the glitzier definition since she came from a family of show dogs. I found Holly at a dog show in beautiful downtown Burbank, where she was in the company of 6 Yorkies being shown in an AKC show. I always had a fascination with Carin Terriers, ever since I first saw the Wizard of Oz as a child. I took to her immediately and knew I had to have her. She is a spoiled “only dog”, and in return, she gives me her all. She has been with me through thick and thin, has always been supportive and with Holly in my life, I never feel alone. Holly is now in her 14th year, still enjoying life, albeit less energetically. She’s on heart medication and has restricted mobility, but since purchasing a doggy stroller from 100% Angel, Holly and I have our mobility back. I take Holly in the stroller everywhere I go, to the mall, all of my local shops, and for strolls around the neighborhood. Holly will walk a short distance, but it is too taxing on her heart, so she really loves to ride around in the stroller. Now we go on longer walks and spend more time together outside the home. Holly is a great companion, and each holiday season, I reflect on just how much of a gift she has been in my life. Priscilla S., Hollywood, CA
