Minuett - February 2005 Canine Angel of the Month

Imagine a dog who loves to play and is always ready to speed around the house with a toy in her mouth. A dog who will go from zoomies to rag-limp on your lap in a split second. A dog who is joyful and loves to go to dog school for obedience training. A dog who breezed through her UCD (UKC Companion Dog obedience title) in three qualifying matches with two first place ribbons and a fourth. A dog who is just as willing to be held and snuggled by anyone who will pick her up, including patients at the hospital where she visits as a registered therapy dog, or disabled school children who don’t always know not to grab her ears or clutch her too tightly. Imagine a dog who loves to do tricks and make people laugh. A dog who will do just about anything for a …shhhhhh… T – R – E – A – T. She even knows the word when it is spelled. A dog who has traveled to California with a friend of the family and performed on Animal Planet’s Pet Star and who has been filmed for a Japanese TV show. Imagine a dog who follows her people around the house, always welcoming them home with a wag and a bounce. A dog who will sleep with you on your bed all day when you are sick, pressing her little body against your leg or back like a comforting heating pad but will rise in an instant to follow you anywhere, as being with you is her only goal in life. A dog who will fetch anything for you that she thinks she is big enough to carry and will place it in your hand. Imagine a dog who touches the hearts of strangers and makes friends wherever she goes. A dog who is an ambassador for her breed as people often remark “I don’t like poodles, but I like YOUR dog!” You have just imagined Minuette, my own personal angel and good friend.
