Angel - January 2005 Canine Angel of the Month

Angel came to me as a gift from God. When a beloved pet passes on, we often grieve as if a close family member has died. It’s uncanny how deep the sorrow can penetrate our heart. When my beloved Westie, Bonnie, passed on 5 years ago, I experienced that level of pain. I never expected that sorrow to be replaced with the grand affection I have found in Angel. A few months after Bonnie’s passing, I ran into an acquaintance in my living complex, who knew of my situation, and having sensed the lack of joy in my life, told me of a “very special dog” that she felt was meant for me. Her dog had a litter a few months earlier, and she told me of how she could not let go of this one puppy that she loved so much. But she realized, in her heart, that God had intended the puppy to be mine. The next day, this puppy entered my life … such a gift could only be named Angel. Since the day Angel arrived at my doorstep, I realized there was something unique about her: She was the embodiment of Joy. Not just a happy or friendly puppy, but a tail-wagging, face-licking bounding free-spirit. To this day, 5 years later, she hasn’t changed a bit. Angel exudes joy everywhere she goes. Everyone who meets her comments on her special friendly nature and I have found that Angel’s sweet personality and presence has not only restored my joy, she has also inspired me to follow my dreams.
